Become an Emperor of Mahjong in Ancient Rome

About Emperor of Mahjong

Emperor of Mahjong is a fun tile-pairing game from G5 set against the atmospheric backdrop of Ancient Rome. You take on the role of a Prefect overseeing the reconstruction of a town on the outskirts of the Roman Empire, and it is your duty to bring prosperity and happiness to the people of these lands. As you slowly rebuild the Mediterranean jewel of Carbera to its former glory after the previous ruler Cassius had robbed it of all its riches, you’ll get to meet all sorts of Roman citizens and characters: from an honest working carpenter to an emperor’s warrior, to a representative of the highest senate. All of them will have their own agendas, and it’s up to you to form a strategy and navigate these storyline interactions wisely, putting the people of the settlement first.

The game is a fusion of mahjong puzzles and city-building. You complete Roman-themed tile pairing levels, score points, find required objects and resources, and use them to rebuild and improve the town of Carbera, a once prosperous trading hub of the Roman Empire.

The mahjong levels you complete allow you to rebuild the settlement and move the plot along, introducing you to new characters and storylines. While you start off with rather easy levels and challenges, as you make your way through the game’s rich story, you’ll encounter all types of tough challenges that may require additional help, and that’s where boosters come in. You can use energy boosters to increase the number of levels you can complete in a single sitting or stack up on tools that allow you to complete puzzles more easily. On top of that, you can get chests full of amazing gifts and talismans that give you time-limited bonus rewards, or you can purchase the resources you need. All of this is available at the in-game shop. So don’t hesitate, and start your breathtaking journey through time to the golden days of the Roman Empire. As they say in Rome: Veni, Vidi, Vici!

What is a mahjong game?

Mahjong, often misspelled as majong, mah jong, mah-jongg, or even mah jongg, is a casual single-player puzzle game based on an old Chinese tile pairing game. Your objective is to remove all the tiles from the game board by removing pairs of matching ones one after another. The trick is that only the “free” tiles can be removed, so you need to have a strategy and plan your moves ahead to avoid cornering yourself.

Building system

Building in Emperor of Mahjong, or more accurately rebuilding, is one of the main mechanics that moves the story along. You start by restoring a simple citizen’s villa and slowly but surely move up to more complex structures like wineries, temples, and even palaces. The more levels you play and complete inside a single building, the better it will become and the more rewards it will bring for completing yet another stage of renovation.

General Information

Levels

There are over several thousand mahjong levels available absolutely free for anyone who decides to download and install Emperor of Mahjong on their PC or mobile device. This is enough to keep one playing for months and even years to come! With regular updates, this number is constantly rising to bring even more free fun and Roman culture to G5 players around the world.

Difficulty

The difficulty in Emperor of Mahjong is not something you choose in the settings – it’s a gradual curve designed to take any player from a beginner to an all-star tile pairing master. As you progress through the story, you’ll notice that the objectives you need to reach become gradually tougher, and you are putting more and more strategy and planning into each level. That way, the game stays challenging and fun throughout the whole playthrough, regardless of what level you’re on – 10 or 1010.

Mahjong rules

In mahjong games, players are drawn into a challenge where the primary aim is to eliminate all tiles from a board, a task that requires keen observation and strategic planning. These games use a mix of tiles, numbering anywhere between 100 to 150, each adorned with symbols ranging from abstract shapes to elaborate designs that echo the theme of the game. For instance, in Emperor of Mahjong, you’ll see a lot of tiles depicting laurels, Roman musical instruments, and other staples of this ancient culture.

The essence of gameplay hinges on the player’s ability to identify and select pairs of matching tiles, which is only possible if the tiles in question are unobstructed on either side and not buried under others. As players tap on their screens or click their mouse buttons to pair and remove matching tiles, they go through various levels of complexity and layouts — ranging from straightforward to intricately challenging — each designed to test their strategic thinking and keep the experience fresh and engaging. The ultimate goal remains to clear the board, a satisfying conclusion to a game that blends visual appeal with mental agility.
